Giving Tuesday

The holidays are among us, sharing memories with friends and families and those who are less fortunate. Today is Giving Tuesday, a time to help others by volunteering our time, mentoring, visiting friends in need or contributing to an organization.  Seattle has many organizations helping the homeless with hot meals, sleeping bags, warm socks, coats and more.  Local Rotary clubs sponsored families with donated items on wish lists for kids and gift cards to grocery stores.

The idea about giving Tuesday, “#GivingTuesday harnesses the potential of social media and the generosity of people around the world to bring change in ; it provides a platform for them to encourage the donation of time, resources and talents to address local challenges. It also brings together the collective power of a unique blend of partners— nonprofits, civic organizations, businesses and corporations, as well as families and individuals—to encourage and amplify small acts of kindness.

As a global movement, #GivingTuesday unites countries around the world by sharing…   http://www.givingtuesday.org/about/

The most important thing to remember is the gift of time for sharing with others.  This year, I continued mentoring with 4 students  to discuss their future and prospects ahead. Always give what you can and find your passion in reaching out to the community and others.  The rewards in return are many.
