This weekend will mean traffic and closure for SR 520, the world’s longest floating bridge opening. WSDOT will host the grand opening celebration to mark the completion of the project. It will not be fully open to traffic until mid-late April. The celebration will start with a 10K “fun run” starting at 7:30 a.m. is expecting more than 10,000 participants who will be the first members of the general public to cross the new bridge.
The new bridge will be about a mile and a half long, a little more than 130 feet longer than the old SR 520 bridge. The bridge will be opened to the public at 10 a.m. with an official ribbon cutting at 10:30 a.m.
Activities Will Include:
Saturday, April 2 – variety of interactive, informative, and fun activities for people of all ages. Exhibits from the Pacific Science Center, expert LEGO builders, STEM-related activities highlighting the science, technology, engineering, and math.

Event-goers will need to travel to the bridge celebration via shuttle. Pickup locations are at the University of Washington, in Bellevue, and in Kirkland.
